Originating from Brooklyn, Kevin Sharkey received his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from SUNY Binghamton and worked in adult psychiatric inpatient facilities. He later obtained his Masters in Social Work at the Hunter College School of Social Work while working at the Children’s Aid Society PINS Program. His positions there encompassed clinical, supervisory, administrative, and directorial capacities, also while working in private practice.
Ever since working in mental health, Mr. Sharkey has always envisioned his role in a school setting. The opportunity then arose to initiate a mental health program for Summit Academy Charter School. At Summit Academy, Mr. Sharkey has utilized his abilities and experience to help children manage their personal and academic struggles. His mission to help adolescents grow and develop into self-aware, better-adjusted adults, increase their chances for happiness and success in life.
